SUMMARY:Music Careers Panel for Secondary Schools
DESCRIPTION:Come and find out about careers in music! We’re hosting a careers panel at Middlesbrough Town Hall for secondary students. \nWe want young people from the Tees Valley to aspire to do amazing things! There are so many career paths available in music and we want to highlight what young people can achieve in our area. \nOur panel of local professionals will reflect the huge variety of musical professions available\, inspiring young people to think more about careers around their strengths and interests and pursue a career in music. \nWe’ll also have a number of stalls from post-16 education providers for young people to discuss music education in college and beyond. \nThe event will be hosted by musician and BBC Introducing presenter Shakk. \n \nShakk – Musician and BBC Introducing NE Presenter \nBursting onto the scene in September 2018\, Shakk went on to sell out his e.p launch night in his hometown\, perform at the O2 Academy\, BBC Music The Biggest Weekend Fringe\, Twisterella & Lindisfarne festival\, and much more whilst gaining support from the likes of Bobby Friction from BBC Asian Network\, BBC Radio Introducing and becoming Ride Music Artist of the Year along the way. As well as being current BBC Introducing North East presenter\, Shakk is creating eclectic\, powerful\, and emotive songwriting\, in addition to his captivating live performances\, and diverse music range\, which has had his growing fanbase drawn to him since the release of his first single. \nOur panellists are: \n \nHayley McKay – Singer-songwriter and Community Musician \nHayley McKay is a rising force in British country music\, renowned for her soaring vocals\, heartfelt storytelling\, and a proud connection to her roots in the North East. Crowned UK Entertainer of the Year at the Hot Country TV Awards in Ireland\, Hayley is captivating audiences worldwide with her powerful presence\, winning International Single of the Year for “Wild West” at the ISSA Awards in Atlanta\, USA\, and Artist of the Year by NE Magazine. Elmore Magazine describes her as “the up-and-coming apple of the British music industry’s eye\,” and her recent single “Adrenaline” only amplifies her irresistible sound with its passionate intensity and catchy\, raw energy. \n \nCarl Jackson – Music journalist\, NE Volume Magazine \nCarl Jackson is a music journalist and critic who writes for NE Volume Magazine\, a North East music and culture publication with a focus on local artists and news. He is known for his music reviews and articles and is also associated with RadioActive 88.6FM. \n \nDaniel Brobbel – Sound and lighting specialist \nDaniel Brobbel is the owner of Artistic Solutions Ltd\, a Hartlepool-based hire and production company specialising in creative audio\, lighting\, stage and AV design. He mainly works with local educational\, arts and culture organisations across the Tees Valley. \nDaniel will demonstrating technical equipment for students to interact with before and after the panel. \nFurther information \nThis event is open to all secondary-aged students as well as home educating families. \nQuestions for our panellists can be submitted in advance. \nThis event will include live BSL interpretation. \nPlaces are free.
