DESCRIPTION:Explore drama\, music\, dance and movement in our Performing Arts Holiday Club for ages 6-14! \nOver one day\, we’ll learn to sing and dance to songs from popular films and musicals during the May half term break. \nDuring breaks\, you’ll also have the option to play games as a group\, have a go on the dance mat\, or if you’d prefer a quieter activity\, there’ll be colouring or reading options too. \nOur tutor team:\nChristina – Music and dance co-lead\nElizabeth – Music and dance co-lead\nLouise – SEN music specialist assistant \nOur team of tutors are experienced in working with young people of all ages and abilities. The team will be assisted by Louise\, who is a music specialist working with young people with SEND. Louise will be on hand to support young people in the group with additional needs – please get in touch to let us know about any specific support your young person requires. Your place includes a packed lunch for those in receipt of benefits related free school meals. \nPlease arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to sign in and get settled. SUMMARY:Musinc Orchestra Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Middlesbrough Open Orchestra and Thursday Orchestra present ‘Past\, Present and Future’. \nExpect original compositions and group favourites\, new faces and old friends\, and a night of brilliant music. \nWe’re delighted to have Middlesbrough Open Orchestra back performing on home soil and are excited to welcome Thursday Orchestra for their debut performance. \nMiddlesbrough Open Orchestra is a collaboration between Musinc\, Beverley School\, Priory Woods School and Tees Valley Music Hub. Students from Beverley School and Priory Woods School have weekly music sessions in school as well as coming together regularly to play as an orchestra at Middlesbrough Town Hall. \nThe young people play music from a wide range of genres\, including classical\, contemporary and pop. They particularly enjoy creating soundscapes and original compositions alongside their orchestra leader\, Ben Hopkinson. \nSince its inception\, Middlesbrough Open Orchestra has been gaining both regional and national recognition for championing inclusive music making. The orchestra has performed at events such as Music For Youth’s Together For Music Festival 2025 in Birmingham\, Music & Drama Education Expo 2023 in London\, Music Mark National Conference 2022 and North East Culture Awards 2022 in Newcastle\, and Middlesbrough Council Civic Awards 2021. \nThursday Orchestra is a new ensemble for Disabled and Neurodivergent young musicians aged 16-25. The orchestra is a place for experienced and aspiring young musicians to come together and make music! The group meets weekly at Middlesbrough Town Hall\, and all musical instruments and abilities are welcome.

DESCRIPTION:Gig School is an exciting 3 day opportunity for young people aged 12-17 to play\, rehearse and perform in a band setting. \nYoung musicians taking part will learn how to communicate with each other as a band\, learn about live music rehearsal\, set-up and soundcheck\, and performance techniques. They’ll perform in large bands\, as well as getting the chance to form ‘breakaway bands’ during the week. \nThe sessions are led by a team of 4 experienced tutors specialising in guitar\, bass\, keys\, drums and vocals. \nThis activity is open to young people aged 12-17 and we advise that young people playing instruments have some experience (beginner level to advanced). Singers of all abilities are welcome. \nSchedule\n• 10am – 3pm\, Tuesday 14th April\n• 10am – 3pm\, Wednesday 15th April\n• 10am – 6pm\, Thursday 16th April\, with the final showcase performance at 5pm\, open to friends and family of the young musicians. The showcase is expected to last an hour and no booking is required. \nTickets are £75 (+50p booking fee) for the 3 days. \nStaggered payment options are available. \nWe also have free bursaries available for families receiving benefits-related free school meals. DESCRIPTION:Join our Summer Band for ages 8-16! \nWe’re inviting young musicians for 3 days of music making at Middlesbrough Town Hall\, as part of this summer’s holiday activities and food programme (HAF). Our band is open to all abilities\, including young people who have never played an instrument\, and all instruments (including non-orchestral). \nAfter you’ve signed up\, we’ll ask what instrument you play and for a description of your ability level so that we can make we have all the right music on the day. Don’t worry if you don’t read music – our tutors will be on hand during the day to support musicians who learn music through alternative methods. (30 minutes)\nSharing and feedback (15 minutes)\n\nWorkshop Outcomes: \n\n\n\nEnhanced Understanding of Interactive Sound Design\nParticipants will gain hands-on experience with contact mics and blackboard chalk to create dynamic sounds. They will learn how to manipulate various sound elements (such as tone\, pitch\, and reverb) using touchpads and MIDI keyboards.\nIncreased Confidence in Creative Collaboration\nParticipants will collaborate to create original blackboard sound pieces. This will encourage teamwork and inspire creative thinking\, allowing participants to experiment with different techniques and to confidently share unique ideas.\nDevelopment of Technical Skills\nParticipants develop skills in using technology such as touchpads\, MIDI keyboards\, and movement-sensitive wristbands to control sound and visuals.\nIncreased Understanding of the Intersection of Music\, Visual Art\, and Technology\nParticipants will explore how music\, visual art\, and technology can intersect in an interactive\, creative environment. This will deepen their understanding of sound design and inspire new ways of thinking about how art and technology can be integrated.\n\n\n\nAccessibility: The workshop is fully accessible and can be BSL or audio described\, please ask for further details. Real chalk is provided for use during the workshop. SUMMARY:Come and Play: Community Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Come and play with Musinc and The Cobweb Orchestra! \nIn partnership with our friends at The Cobweb Orchestra\, we’re inviting musicians to join our community orchestra for a day of workshops at Middlesbrough Town Hall\, finishing with a sharing performance. \nSign up by 25th February. \nSign up now!\n  \nOur orchestra is open to ages 8+ and all abilities\, including those with SEND and neurodiversities. All instruments\, including non-orchestral\, are welcome – some experience is necessary. \nOn our sign up form\, we’ll ask what instrument you play and for a description of your ability level so that we can make we have all the right music on the day.
