MUSINC provides access to high quality music making for young people in the Tees Valley.

We know that young people can bring about positive change in their lives and the lives of those around them by getting involved in making music. Therefore we work with some of those most in need – young people (age 10-24) facing barriers in the local authority areas of Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Redcar and Cleveland. We are funded by the national charity Youth Music and form part of the Alliance for a Musically Inclusive England (AMIE).

We are offering free targeted online tuition for ages 10-18 years for those facing barriers (up to 25 years for young people with a SEN Support Plan or those who identify as having a disability).

Student Agreement:

By participating in the online tuition session the student agrees:

  • To develop and discuss goals with your tutor and aim to achieve these goals in a given time period
  • To demonstrate a good standard of behaviour at all times during sessions
  • To demonstrate a willingness to learn and listen to the instructions given by your tutor
  • To regularly attend sessions and let your tutor know if you are unable to attend*
  • To practice at home if you have access to your own instrument.

Parent / Guardian Agreement:

As parent or guardian of the participant you agree to the following:

  • You will ensure that the child in your care is available for the session as agreed with the music tutor
  • You will ensure that your child has access to the required equipment for the session to take place
  • You will be available throughout the session and make regular visual checks on your child to ensure that they are happy to take part.
  • You will ensure that the child in your care is available for the session as agreed with the music tutor
  • You will ensure that your child has access to the required equipment for the session to take place
  • You will be available throughout the session and make regular visual checks on your child to ensure that they are happy to take part.

* Cancellation Policy:

  • If either student or tutor is unable to carry out the session at the scheduled time, all parties must be notified and all efforts must be made to reschedule the session within the same week.
  • If a student does not attend a scheduled session and has not notified the tutor or Musinc in advance that they are unable to attend, this will be documented as a no-show. If this happens 3 times consecutively without reasonable reasons being given for the absences, Musinc reserve the right to withdraw the offer for 1:1 tuition.
  • If either student or tutor cannot carry out a session at the scheduled time and it is not possible to re-schedule, sessions which are paid for (either in full or part) can be carried over to the next half term block.

Photography and filming consent:

  • As part of our communications activity, Musinc uses photography / film of promotions and events for publicity purposes.
  • We may also wish to use short films of tutorials as part of our reporting evidence for our funders Youth Music to demonstrate the standard of the work that is being delivered by the tutor and the programme. This in turn could be shared with the media as part of promotional films for Musinc and Youth Music.

Why we collect information about background and circumstances:

We ask for the information regarding background and circumstances to evidence that our funding is being spent appropriately and reaching and supporting young people who are living with barriers in Teesside. In order to do this we are required to provide anonymous statistical data to our funders Youth Music which is in turn reported to the Arts Council England and the Department for Culture Media and Sport. These organisations may publish anonymous statistical reports using this data. We would not share this information with any other party without first seeking your explicit consent to do so and without informing you of the reason for doing so.

By completing our form you agree to this information being shared anonymously with our funders.
