Shine Festival 2027
Middlesbrough’s inclusive choral festival returns in 2027!
Shine Festival is an inclusive choral festival, providing an open stage and feedback for singing groups across the North East. Join us for an all day celebration of local music making!
The next Choirs Festival will take place on Sunday 14th March 2027 and the Schools Festival will take place on Monday 15th March 2027.
Take note – venue change for 2027!
Middlesbrough Town Hall will be closed throughout 2027 for essential building and repair works.
Shine Festival will therefore take place in the fantastic new auditorium in the Digital Life building at Teesside University.

Choirs Festival: Sunday 14th March 2027
The Shine Choirs Festival event is open to all singing groups from across the North East. We would love to see a wide variety of singing groups, of all genres and abilities, taking part in the festival!
Schedule
The day will be split up into 3 performance sessions: 10:30 – 12:15, 13:00 – 14:45, and 15:30 – 17:15.
Sign up
The deadline for sign ups is Friday 29th January 2027. To sign up, please read our FAQs and fill in this online form. If you are successful, there is an entry fee of £30 per group.
Audience tickets
Audience tickets will be released closer to the event.
Schools Festival: Monday 15th March 2027
We’re providing an open performance stage with live feedback from our panellists for school ensembles across the Tees Valley area.
Schedule
The day will be split into 2 sessions. The morning session will take place 10:30 – 12:00 and the afternoon session will take place 13:30 – 15:00. There will be up to 5 groups performing in each session.

The deadline for sign up is Friday 29th January 2027. To sign up, please read our FAQs and fill in this online form. If you are successful, there is an entry fee of £15 per choir/group.
Audience tickets
We’d love for the young people’s families to join us and watch the performances. Audience tickets will be arranged directly through your school closer to the event.
