Last year, we hosted “Boro Sounds”, bringing together some truly incredible bands from across Teesside to battle it out for the title of Middlesbrough’s best band. The energy was electric, the talent unforgettable, and the competition fierce.

This year, we’re back — bigger, bolder, and better than ever. Expect a full evening of music for every taste, from exciting new up-and-coming talent to your favourite local bands, all taking to the stage as they compete for this year’s Best Band title.

Come along, find your new favourite act, or scream along from the crowd. If you’re feeling brave, jump on the open mic with a live band and live your main character moment!

At The Cells, DJ Jamie Pell brings a late-night set, with your favourite rave tunes. Bring your mates and enjoy his bold, raw, unfiltered set.

More music. More chaos. More moments.

This isn’t just a gig, it’s Boro Sounds 2026, and you really don’t want to miss it!

Please note:

  • under 14s to be supervised by an adult
  • bags will be checked at the door
  • anyone buying alcohol will need a valid ID showing they are over 18
  • entrance to The Cells is limited to 20 people at a time

Age appropriateness:

This event is open to all, but best suited to young people aged 15-21.

Pushchairs and prams:

Due to Middlesbrough Town Hall’s fire regulation policies pushchairs, prams and car seats must be left in our dedicated ‘buggy parking’ zone on the ground floor carriageway and cannot be taken into any of the event spaces. Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for items left there, but we do our best to keep an eye on them.

Relaxed setting:

This event may include music at louder volumes and be unsuitable for younger audiences, but the following will be available:

  • Visitors can find a busy venue and loud music quite overwhelming. A limited number of ear defenders are available from the Box Office – by the main entrance on Albert Street – see us as early as possible to secure a pair.
  • Free drinking water will be available
