Delivery across 3 sites

Musinc delivers music making activities in 3 sites from the River Tees Multi Academy Trust; a non-mainstream school provision which supports learners with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs.

Musinc delivers practical music making sessions for KS2 students at River Tees Primary Academy, for KS3 students at River Tees Academy Grangetown and for young people in residence at River Tees Hospital School. Young people attending these sessions have opportunities to play typical band instruments, such as guitars, drums and keyboards.

Student X first attended the music sessions with hospital staff and was particularly unwell. At first they just observed others for a short time before leaving the session, but over a few weeks they ended up staying for the full duration of the session.

After a few weeks of seeing how the sessions were delivered, Student X felt well enough to take part in the session and had a try at playing some simple chords on the keyboard along with their favourite song. Over the following sessions, Student X not only played a number of their favourite songs on keyboard but also felt confident enough to sing along too. The growth that Student X had and showed over the short time that they attended the music sessions was fantastic to see and such a pleasure to be a part of.
