Join our Summer Band for ages 8-16!

We’re inviting young musicians for 3 days of music making at Middlesbrough Town Hall, as part of this summer’s holiday activities and food programme (HAF). Our band is open to all abilities, including young people who have never played an instrument, and all instruments (including non-orchestral).

After you’ve signed up, we’ll ask what instrument you play and for a description of your ability level so that we can make we have all the right music on the day. Don’t worry if you don’t read music – our tutors will be on hand during the day to support musicians who learn music through alternative methods. If you don’t play an instrument yet, or can’t bring your instrument with you – you’ll be able to borrow one of ours.

Throughout the 3 days our band will learn 4 songs, as well as taking part in games, crafting and other fun activities.

Our Tutor Team:
Ben – Guitar & Bass
Sammy – Clarinet & Saxophone
Christina – Vocals, Keyboards & Violin

Activities will take place from 10am-2pm on Monday 11th, Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th August.

This event is part of Middlesbrough Council’s Bring It On! holiday programme, funded by the Department for Education.

Bring It On! is the new name for the holiday activities and food (HAF) programme in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland. Bring It On! runs during the school holidays to offer free, fun activities and food to children and young people aged 5 to 16 years. We understand that the school holidays can be a challenging time for parents, and the HAF can help with this. HAF programmes aim to support low-income families, particularly those in receipt of benefits related free school meals.

Tickets are available through the link below. Places for HAF and non-HAF eligible children are available with hot lunch options.

Age appropriateness:

This event is for young people ages 8-16. Our facilitators are experienced in providing activities for all young people, including young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Pushchairs and prams:

Due to Middlesbrough Town Hall’s fire regulation policies pushchairs, prams and car seats must be left in our dedicated ‘buggy parking’ zone on the ground floor carriageway and cannot be taken into any of the event spaces. Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for items left there, but we do our best to keep an eye on them.

Relaxed setting:

Our events take place in a relaxed environment, and have the following features:

  • There’ll be lower volume levels throughout the event
  • Our spaces have consistent lighting, with low level auditorium lights on throughout
  • Our musicians and facilitators have relaxed attitude to noise and moving around the space
  • A quiet, chill out space will be available should you need a break
  • Our younger visitors can find a busy venue and loud musical activities quite overwhelming. A limited number of ear defenders are available from the Box Office – by the main entrance on Albert Street – see us as early as possible to secure a pair.
  • Free drinking water will be available
