North East Opera

Two men singing with their arms in a triangular symbol to represent a house

Mondays 4 – 6pm, during term time, at Middlesbrough Town Hall

Led by local professional opera singers Emily Smith and David Pisaro, North East Opera (NEO) offers exciting opportunities for adults through workshops, rehearsals, concerts and theatrical productions.

NEO use opera as a point of focus but with a whole load of other styles of music thrown into the mix – creating a wide variety of opera mash-ups.

Sometimes they slap an 80’s power ballad into the story line, or maybe a gospel song, or a song from the musicals, or maybe some punk, some funk, or a song from any corner of the globe… whoever comes to the sessions has the chance to direct, choreograph, or suggest material – if it works – NEO will use it!

Whilst everyone has a laugh, they are always professional in achieving the highest standards possible.
