Meet our intern Stacy!

Stacy has written a blog on her first few weeks here at Musinc.

My name is Stacy and I am an international postgraduate student studying Education Applied at Teesside University. I am a Nigerian. I started my music career at an early age of 8, my desire to sing was inspired by the famous French-Canadian musician (Celine Dion). I loved her voice and how soothing her music made me feel. At age 15, I joined the local church choir in Nigeria where I was taught the basic rudiments of music, most especially translating solfa notations, counting, and understanding beats in bars.

As a student in the field of education, having my internship here at Musinc has broadened my understanding of teaching and learning activities. At Musinc there’s no limit to what can be achieved through music, there is a space for everyone to fit in regardless of status, age, race, belief etc.

My first experience at Musinc remains memorable as I was warmly received into the community of music instructors and learners. I was introduced to various events, upcoming and ongoing activities. As a team, I featured into various music projects such as UpbeatPlay On!, and Bandjam, which has both Junior and Senior groups.

Musinc’s programme is aimed at building a world of creative and intentional people who with their use and knowledge of music, put together different musical skills such as singing, and use of other musical instruments and ideas, to form a community of happy people.

My success so far is finding myself in a unique field of education, having the opportunity to serve and work with teams of musical instructors, children, and adults, including music making with people with additional needs. My internship at Musinc has also availed me the opportunity to get to see and learn about new instruments such as the double bass, opening myself up to learning to interpret staff notation, and playing the clarinet. My experience so far has been amazing.
