‘A place to build your confidence’ – Edith’s work experience

We were really pleased to have Year 10 student Edith join us for a work experience placement across 3 days in June. Edith plays guitar and wanted the opportunity to explore careers in music and what it’s like to work in a music organisation.

Edith’s placement

Being with Musinc for my three day work experience has been amazing. I have learnt the different meanings behind music and different techniques. I also now have a much better understanding in music and the things I would need to do to be a musician or sound engineer in the industry.

Musinc is a place to build your confidence levels. For example I can be quite shy and quiet but I enjoy music a lot and would love to perform as a guitarist, although sometimes I can get nervous. But with Musinc they have made me realise that to perform in front of others and millions of people I need to have that confidence in me, as for one of the days in work experience I did with them I did a little performance/took part in a session with Upbeat playing on the electric guitar. After doing this it made me have like a little confidence boost on being able to do something I was nervous to do before, because I rarely play guitar in front of others, but showing I could do that in front of a few people made me feel comfortable performing live.

Musinc is a perfect place for everyone, it shows you how welcoming it is to everyone knowing that we are all equal no matter what. This includes working with people with disabilities and watching how much they are enjoying themselves for taking part in music.

I will say it has been a pleasure coming here for my work experience and I don’t regret one bit because it’s an experience of a lifetime to show your abilities in music and learn all different techniques in the music industry.

Musinc is a place where I feel like I belong there, it’s a place where people can have fun whilst learning about music and even experiencing it. I recommend to go here when trying to find a placement even if you’re not into music because I’m sure you will enjoy it, it is a place for everyone.
